Your adventure begins the moment you land in Arusha, Tanzania. Our friendly team will greet you at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer you to your hotel. After checking in, take some time to relax and rejuvenate from your travels.
In the evening, join us for a welcome dinner where we’ll go over your itinerary and discuss what to expect in the upcoming days. This is the perfect time to meet your fellow adventurers! Soak in the anticipation—and maybe even share your excitement about reaching the summit!
Tip: Take this opportunity to ensure you have everything you need for your climb. Double-check your gear and don’t hesitate to ask us any questions about the trek.
After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off early in the morning for Machame Gate (1,800m). Here, you’ll begin the official registration process. Once your team is ready, it’s time to hit the trail!
The Machame Route is often referred to as the “Whiskey Route” due to its more challenging terrain, but don’t let that intimidate you—it’s an adventure worth every step! The trail begins by passing through lush rainforest, where you’ll hear the sounds of nature all around. Look out for unique flora, colorful birds, and maybe even some playful monkeys!
The trek to Machame Camp (3,000m) takes about 5-7 hours. Once we arrive, you’ll have time to relax, enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by our skilled chefs, and soak in the stunning views around you. As the sun sets, the stars will twinkle overhead, and you’ll realize just how magical Tanzania really is.
Tip: Stay hydrated and let your guides know if you’re feeling unwell. The acclimatization process is crucial!
Rise and shine! Today, we continue our ascent. After breakfast, we’ll head out for Shira Camp (3,850m). This part of the trek takes about 5-6 hours and will lead you through some of the most breathtaking landscapes on Kilimanjaro.
As you climb higher, the forest will give way to moorland, revealing stunning views of the mountain and surrounding valleys. Keep your camera handy—you’ll want to capture these moments! Once we reach Shira Camp, the views are nothing short of spectacular, with the iconic Kibo Peak looming majestically above you.
Enjoy a hearty meal, and if you’re feeling up to it, take a short acclimatization hike to gain some extra elevation before heading back down to camp for the night.
Tip: Don’t forget to bring your warm layers; the nights can get quite chilly up here!
Another exciting day awaits! After breakfast, we’ll trek toward Barranco Camp (3,960m), which will take us about 6-7 hours. The route today will take you across the Shira Plateau, where you’ll experience panoramic views that will leave you in awe.
As we approach Barranco, you’ll encounter the infamous Barranco Wall—a steep and challenging climb that’s both exhilarating and rewarding. Take your time, enjoy the challenge, and don’t be afraid to snap some photos. Once at Barranco Camp, you’ll find a vibrant atmosphere and stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
Relax, recharge, and prepare for tomorrow’s adventure. The team will serve you dinner and share stories around the campfire (if conditions permit) under the starry African sky.
Tip: Keep your spirits high! Remember, every challenge is a step closer to the summit!
After a night of rest, we’ll tackle the Barranco Wall in the morning light—a climb that will leave you breathless both from the altitude and the views! This climb will take about 1-2 hours, and once you reach the top, you’ll feel like you’ve conquered the world!
Afterward, we’ll continue our trek to Karanga Camp (4,000m), which is a more leisurely hike taking about 3-4 hours. This is a great day to enjoy the diverse landscapes and keep an eye out for wildlife.
At Karanga Camp, you’ll have time to relax and acclimatize. Take a moment to appreciate how far you’ve come and the adventure that lies ahead.
Tip: Reflect on your journey so far—this is all part of the experience!
Today’s trek will lead us to Barafu Camp (4,600m), which is known as the base camp for the summit push. The trek takes approximately 4-5 hours, and you’ll start noticing the air getting thinner as you climb.
Once we reach Barafu Camp, you’ll have the chance to rest and prepare for the challenging summit day ahead. Make sure to hydrate well and fuel your body with nutritious meals to keep your energy levels high.
As evening approaches, we’ll gather for a briefing on the summit attempt, ensuring you’re oriented and prepared for the early morning climb.
Tip: Get a good night’s sleep—you’ll need it!
Summit Day! A day filled with excitement, anticipation, and a hint of nervous energy. You’ll wake up around midnight to prepare for the ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point on Kilimanjaro. After a light breakfast, we’ll begin the climb—this is the moment you’ve been training for!
The trek from Barafu Camp to the summit takes approximately 6-8 hours. The night will be dark, but the stars will be bright, guiding your way as you ascend the steep, icy trail. The climb is challenging, but with each step, you’ll feel the thrill of reaching your goal.
As dawn approaches, you’ll reach Stella Point (5,730m). From here, it’s just a short trek to Uhuru Peak. As you stand at the summit and take in the breathtaking views, you’ll realize that every step of the journey was worth it. Celebrate your accomplishment with your fellow climbers and soak in the exhilaration of standing atop Africa!
After descending back to Barafu Camp for a well-deserved break and meal, we’ll continue down to Mweka Camp (3,100m) for the night.
Tip: Capture the moment! Take plenty of photos at the summit, but also remember to enjoy the experience.
On the final day, we’ll complete our descent to Mweka Gate (1,640m), which takes about 3-4 hours. As we walk down, reflect on your incredible journey up Kilimanjaro and the friendships you’ve formed along the way.
Once we reach Mweka Gate, we’ll celebrate your achievement with a certificate presentation, marking your successful ascent! Our team will then transfer you back to your hotel in Arusha, where you can relax and share stories of your adventure.
In the evening, join us for a farewell dinner, where we’ll celebrate your incredible achievement and discuss your next adventures in Tanzania!
