Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Welcome to the land of wonders! Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, a Safari Multiways representative will greet you with a warm, welcoming smile and transfer you to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Here, you will spend your first night, enjoy a hearty meal, and prepare for the adventure ahead.

Day 2: Moshi/Arusha to Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Altitude: 1,800m to 3,000m
Distance: 11km
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Rainforest

After breakfast, we drive to Machame Gate, where your climb begins! The trek starts in the lush montane forest, teeming with vibrant birdlife and possibly monkeys! Tonight, you camp at Machame Camp, where you’ll enjoy dinner prepared by our skilled mountain chefs.

Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Altitude: 3,000m to 3,845m
Distance: 5km
Hiking Time: 4-6 hours
Habitat: Moorland

This segment of the hike introduces you to the stunning moorland zone, with expansive views of the mountain. The terrain changes dramatically as you enjoy every step up to the Shira Plateau, known for its spectacular sunsets.

Day 4: Shira Camp to Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Altitude: 3,845m to 4,630m to 3,950m
Distance: 10km
Hiking Time: 6-8 hours
Habitat: Semi-desert

Acclimatization is key, and today’s trek up to Lava Tower and down to Barranco Camp helps your body adjust to high altitudes. Remarkable views of the Western Breach and Breach Wall accompany you before you descend into the Great Barranco Valley.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Altitude: 3,950m to 3,963m
Distance: 5km
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Habitat: Alpine desert

Today’s journey to Barafu Camp sets you up for your summit attempt. Rest up and prepare for a night-time trek to the roof of Africa!

Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Altitude: 4,640m to 5,895m to 3,080m
Distance: 17km
Hiking Time: 11-14 hours
Habitat: Arctic

The most exhilarating part of your trek begins shortly after midnight. Ascend under the stars to Stella Point and onto Uhuru Peak. Congratulations, you’ve reached the summit! After soaking in the views, descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate to Moshi/Arusha
Altitude: 3,080m to 1,640m
Distance: 10km
Hiking Time: 3-4 hours
Habitat: Rainforest

The final day of your trek is a gentle descent through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. Here, we’ll celebrate your successful climb and transfer you back to your hotel.

Day 9: Departure
After a life-changing journey, it’s time to say goodbye. We transfer you to the airport, where you depart with stories and memories of Kilimanjaro.
